The Lone Pack

As the Lone Pack moved away from the stream, Wizard Wolf Thought in reflection. < The "Pack" has come into being and they all think I am the leader. I was just looking to help someone and really didn't want to start a small pack of my own. Now I have a fighting she wolf, a human healer, a teenage power wolf and a young teleporting pup. The good spirit of the wood only knows what will come next.>

His thoughts swirling in his mind, Wizard Wolf suddenly sensed a large animal nearby and realized it needed help. It seemed to be coming from a deep hole on the near side of the trail.

Speaking to the rest of the pack and projecting to Nita "Can any of you sense the injured animal nearby."

nita spoke first "i do sence something but i dont know what"

"i do smell a hint of blood in the air"silverfangs spoke
stani stoped and knoddded to wizard wolf that he two acknolged the sent of blood.

WW" Nita stay here a couple while Lupo and I check it out. If we need you we will howl. If you would Silverfang, stay with Nita. You too Santi, please"

As WW and Lupo trotted carefully down the trail the scent grew stronger. They eased off the trail and found a very large Black Bear laying on his side at the bottom of a shallow ravine. Slowly they approached and circled the animal and they could see a large bloody gash in his side. He stirred a bit and growled painfully. WW's eyes met the bears and the thought came clear "I will not harm you black wolf. I an in need of a healer."

nita shighed sencing a urge of unese she could tell that silverfangs and stani was unesy of her she sat down near them

"i wonder if alpha wizard wolf is going to be ok sisster"stani siad to silverfangs as she knoded to him letting nita stroke her mane.

Nita soothed the wolves and said" The Wizard is a very capable animal. He has the recently healed Lupo to back him up. I'm sure they are fine"

Suddenly they heard WW's howl and started running in their direction. They were shocked to see the wolves standing steady in front of the large black bear. WW growled and thought " Do not be alarmed. the bear is injured and needs our help. I see in his thoughts he will do us no harm. Come slowly closer so as not to alarm him."

"sure thing" nita spoke as she waled in front of the black bear and siad not knowing if it wouldnt understand her "its ok i am nita the healer of this pack groop i just wana help you." silverfangs knodded to WW and lupo as she walkeed past the bear. stani fowoled his sister.

Nita slowly placed her hand over the bears side. Lupo stood by in case her power was not enough to heal the wound. As her hand glowed she said "This wound is very bad. I will need some help Lupo." Lupo placed his right paw over Nita's arm and both seemed to concentrate very hard on the job at hand. It seemed a very long time. Silverfangs voiced " I've never seen a healer in action before. Does it take long?"
WW answered "Only as long as needed. I have only seen this once before when she healed Lupo's injured leg."

"she healed lupo?!" silverfangs siad outstanded and surpised asn stani watched nita carefully.

WW "Yes. That is why I was in your city. Looking for some help and found it. You were there, remember?"

silverfangs gasped and put her head down in ashament "sorry bout that WW"

The bears breathing started to ease as thought the pain was subsiding. "It seems to be working" Stani mumbled. Silverfangs nodded in agreement. "I do hope when he recovers he won't try to fight us.

"yes i agree" nita siad caching everyone off gard "i hope this black bear will not attack i am still a human after all and no matter what i can be killed." she finshed.

As Nita and Lupo eased back from the bear he raised his head and gave a big bear grin "I sense only friends here and thank the human for her healing. I understand the half-breed wolf also helped. My thanks to both and the Great Black wolf for finding me. I am Bus. My story will be told when I get a little food. Do any of you have food?"

nita shighed as she could tell night fall had just cast rapidly over the sky her power over flowing she had th find a tree stomp or something along toe line she stumblled back and walked placing her hands on a living tree and colasped saying "its ok,its o- " she flell as her power expanded it self spreading miles into the forest as thousand of wild animals ate the false veggestion they fell as nita's power vanshed as she fell asleep.

Wizard Wolf growled "Lupo and Stani go and see if you can find some small game and fresh fish from the pond nearby. We will camp here and let Nita and Bus rest for the night.

stani stood there wide eyed but knodded and headed out with lupo stunned in how strong nita's powers can become.

"will nita be ok wizard wolf?" silverfangs asked

nita stirred in her sleep resting peacefully now.

Wizard Wolf replied "I believe so. she may sleep the nigh away. I hope the boys will be OK foraging for food. The bear needs something to eat and we could use some as well."

Bus stirred and tried to stand. "Oh my, what a headache. I feel I've been dragged down stream over a hundred rocks."

"Lay back" WW growled and projected his thoughts at the bear. "You should rest for the night. We will talk much more in the morning. Meanwhile my pack will stand guard and you will be safe.

stani shighed as he paced the woods gatering prey as he counted and thought "note to self never Never get the healer mad."

"hey lupo" he siad with a mouthfull of prey "can i ask you a question about wizard wolf?"

Lupo had been scaring fish to the shallow end of a small pond to paw them out onto the grass.
He replied "Ask away, little buddy"
They sat side by side a short distance from the rest of the group and noticed some of the pack had gone to sleep.
Lupo said "looks like what we have so far will be enough for now. Lets head back and you can ask me on the way."

".... um lupo do you know how wizard wolf thinks.. imaean has he, do you know if he has ever thought of...nevermind"stani hesitated

"What are you concerned with Stani?" The pair stopped short of the campsite so the others would not hear.
"Never mind for no" Stani growled. "We'll talk later. Lets get this pray to the group and get some sleep tonight"

After the rest of the pack, aside from Nita and Bus, had eaten the group dozed off for the night

nita sat up as waled over to bus slowly she leaned aginst him as she placed a pice of food near his paw "thank you bus i been wanting to say thatfor a while now i hope you can understand me but evenif i didnt heal a big or a small wound i was already from the start of the journey at my limit so i want to thank you,and bus i hope we can get along. " nita sat aginst bus and odzzed off into a quiet slumber.

In the morning the travelers woke one by one. First to rise was Nita who found some of the pray left over from last night and moved off a distance to start a fire and cook some. Second was Wizard Wolf who lay watching Bus with expectant eyes. Next was Silverfangs a bit nervous so she patrolled the perimeter for any sign of intruders. The young wolves stirred and ventured as near the fire as they dared but the smell of food and the cautions of Nita drew them close.
Wizard Wolf yelped to the boys (as he called them) "Be careful fellows. That stuff will singe you fur in a heart-beat"
"Don't worry" Nita said "I'll keep them far enough away"
All parties were eager to hear how Bus got injured and more about him.
Stani was wondering how he got his name.

Bus finally stirred and murmured so Wizard Wolf could pick up his thoughts "Feel pretty hungry. Oh look she left me a fish. Bless her heart. Gonna need more though. Think she has more?"."
Wizard Wolf projected "I'm sure she has plenty. "The boys" got lots last night and most of the pack was asleep before they ate."
The thought conversation between the wolf and the bear was lost on most of the others.

lupo wandered nearer to nita in turn nita faced him and dint blink as she spoke firmly "BACK Away" she knew lupo might not under stand her she counted "It is Dangerous I am ASKING you to Back Away from the fire." stani verred around the flame to the other side as he accenditly placed his paww on a hot ash and yelped in great pian and lept back distracted by this nita drew her attionaway fromlupo as she quickly estuinqushied the fire and ran to stani's aid but he snarlled at her for she had created the fire that had hurt him (trusting issues).

"Please Lupo" Nita begged "I am a healer and will make the pian go away. You should listen to Wizard Wolf when he says the fire is dangerous."
Wizard Wolf and Silverfangs rushed to the smoldering fire and the injured wolves.
Silverfangs growled at Stani "Relax, little brother. She means to make it all better. Don't be angry for a mistake you, yourself have made." Turning to Lupo "Are you OK lupo.?"
